"A bad habit cannot be tossed out of the window; it must be coaxed down the stairs a step at a time."

Business Scenario
The day of the efficient manager has long since passed. We live in the age of the effective manager: one who can organise the burden of their workload to meet deadlines and achieve a balance between the workplace and the home. Calling it ‘time management’ merely reduces it to a set of mechanical skills; it is much more complex than that…
Who should attend?
All new / untrained Team Leaders (or Supervisors / Junior Managers) or other staff in demanding positions.
The Purpose
To explore and identify the behaviours and skills which enable effective and meaningful organisation of one’s workload.
The workshop includes:
  • The use of time logs to capture the effectiveness of the working day
  • The principal ‘Time Robbers’ that counter effective performance
  • Identifying the principal tasks that comprise one’s workload
  • How to distinguish between ‘Urgent’ and ‘Important’ tasks
  • The compilation of task sheets that ensure effective prioritisation
  • Pareto’s principle and its application to effective workload management
  • A brief overview of assertiveness and learning to say ‘no’
  • Not ‘SMART’ but ‘SMARTER’ objectives
  • The principles of influencing and persuading key personnel
  • How to run successful meetings that achieve real results
The approach:
Through group exercises, informal discussions, action planning and video, delegates identify – and commit to - the key behaviours that will achieve improved workplace effectiveness.
